BIO
Kate Royal is a writer, director, and filmmaker based in Chicago. Her work has been seen throughout the city as well as regionally in her home state of New York.
Notable credits include Queen For a Day, workshopped at Steep Theatre Company and directed by Jonathan Berry, as well as workshops at Chicago Dramatists and The Den.
She is the creator, writer, and director of the original web series In Real Life, streaming now on OTV. Her screenplay Charity & Sylvia was a semi-finalist for the 2017 Sundance Screenwriters Lab, and her screenplay Coming of Age was a quarter-finalist in the 2020 ScreenCraft Drama competition. She holds a BA in Theatre/English from SUNY Geneseo and an MFA in Writing for the Screen + Stage from Northwestern University.
